World’s Largest Vertical Farm

Dana Group is pleased to report that Dana Water Chillers and Dana Water Cooling Systems with BMS supply have been provided to the World’s Largest Vertical Farm, which was just officially opened by Emirates Flight Catering and Crop One Holdings. The facility, known as Bustanica, is the first vertical farm run by Emirates Crop One, a partnership between the two companies, and is situated close to Al-Maktoum International Airport in Dubai. A $40 million investment serves as its foundation.

Bustanica is a hydroponic farm with a growth area of 330,000 square feet that produces more than 1 million kg of premium leafy greens annually while using 95% less water than conventional farming methods. With more than 1 million plants growing there at any given time, the facility has the capacity to produce 3,000 kg of plants every day.

Dana Water Heaters and Coolers Factory LLC was the exclusive supplier of Dana Water Chillers for this major project. We create custom Dana water chillers that can withstand the tightest temperature and humidity requirements and function in temperatures as high as 60 degrees Celsius.

AMANA Steel Building Contracting handled all aspects of the Eco1 project’s management and construction. For Eco1 and the largest vertical farm in the world in Dubai for Emirates Flight Catering and Crop One Holdings, Bustanica Project, Dana 50ton, 15ton, and 10ton industrial chillers were delivered in record time.

To increase plant consistency and dependability, the BACnet I/P protocol was used to connect the DANA Chillers with the Siemens BMS system. Every mechanical, electrical, information technology (IT), and security system in a building is combined into a single system by an integrated building management system (BMS), allowing them to interact and function as a single unit. The primary goal of the DANA BMS solution was to ensure that the facility ran in a safe manner while simultaneously monitoring and improving the usage and performance of its supervised subsystems to enable more effective operation.

The BMS operator can monitor the chilled water supply/return temperature, tank water temperature, power status, common alarms, and operate the Dana Water chiller units from the control room with the aid of DANA BMS features. Temperature monitoring using immersion-type sensors.

CHILLER, DANA Each unit received a controller, which aids in:

  • Keep track of the field sensor readings.
  • Keeps track of contactor/switch on/off status.
  • Manage the field actuators’ equipment.
  • Switching devices

DANA WATER CHILLERS have the capacity to utilise BACnet protocols for communication and have networking protocols built-in to transport data between the devices. With the Siemens BMS controller, every I/O point was connected.
